Reliance Jio has been expanding its list of devices that support its broadband service called the Jio Fiber.

JioTVCamera is available now for purchase at jio.com.

It is a plug-and-play accessory to install on set-top box.

It's available to customers only from Jio Fiber.

As part of the broadband ecosystem of Reliance Jio, the Internet of Things, or IoT, devices are considered crucial to bringing forward advanced communications technology to every household in India. The Jio Fiber not only offers high-speed broadband, as the Mukesh Ambani-owned company claims, but it also supports features like video calling.

The company has launched a new device called the JioTVCamera to facilitate that, which will be available to all Jio Fiber users across the country.

The JioTVCamera is chargeable to customers unlike the Jio Fiber set-top box, but the company offers easy payment options to sweeten the deal and increase adoption.

JioTVCamera costs Rs 2,999, and can be purchased from the jio.com online store. Customers have EMI options to make the deal attractive. The device on other e-commerce platforms is not currently available.

There are third-party cameras such as the JioTVCamera, but it's not clear whether the Jio Fiber platform supports these. But Jio's own camera is just another addition to its device family that is readily available to users who make use of the company's services.

The JioTVCamera comes with a 1/2.7-inch CMOS sensor with a focal length of 3.1 mm for specifications. Since the camera is for television, its viewing field is set at 120 degrees to cover a large area.

JioTVCamera is easy to install. For the Jio Fiber set-top box, it's a plug-and-play add-on that allows for audio and video calling. That means if you only have the Jio Fiber router, you'll need to get the set-top box to use the accessory. The video calls can only be made to Jio numbers, while all mobile and landline operators are supported with audio calls.

You'll need to plug the device in and restart the set-top box. The reboot will complete the installation. Now, using the JioCall app, available for both Android and iOS, you need to set up your calling profile.
