The employees can now mention the NPR number during the update process while updating KYC online in the UAN portal.
An additional piece of information is the divulging of the National Population Register (NPR) number to the EPFO as part of the KYC process. In addition to entering details such as PAN, Aadhaar, bank account number etc., the UAN portal may provide mention of the NPR document number and the employee's name.
The employees stand to greatly benefit with the introduction of the Universal Account Number (UAN). To access the UAN portal, or the Unified Portal, the UAN must be activated. One can make provident fund (PF) transfer and PF withdrawal online using the UAN portal, and even check the status of the PF claims.

However, to ensure that the PF claims for transfer or withdrawal go through smoothly online, the employee must ensure that the employer completes and verifies the KYC.
TeamLease Services says Prashant Singh, Business Head–Compliance and Payroll Outsourcing, "EPFO introduced UAN in 2014 and KYC was implemented in 2017. Updating KYC like Aadhaar card, Pan Card and bank details is mandatory. These are mandatory documents, employees would not be able to transfer and withdraw their PF without KYC updates.
How to update KYC in UAN portal
The employee can log in to the Unified Portal Under' Manage ' button in the top panel to get the KYC done, click on KYC On the next page, enter details such as bank account number, Passport, PAN, Aadhaar, driving license number, election card number or voting card number, etc. NPR is the eighth KYC information which could be added to the portal list.
Click on save and then the status will be shown as "Pending for approval" The EPFO has made it clear that only verified KYCs such as Aadhaar, PAN which are digitally approved, will be considered for the availability of any services.
The employees with verified Aadhaar and Bank details seeded against their UAN can submit their PF Withdrawal/Settlement/Transfer claims online.
The employer will perform the verification and the status will be displayed on the portal of the member UAN. So make sure that your employer has verified them within a reasonable time frame after furnishing the Aadhaar, PAN numbers on the UAN portal.Updating KYC in UAN Portal may not be mandatory but getting PAN and Aadhaar will accelerate the employee's online PF transfer and withdrawal process.
