A bonus of Rs 2.30 lakh is available to Jan Dhan account holders. Accidental insurance is provided to Jan Dhan account users when they create a bank account. Account holders are offered accident insurance of Rs 1,00,000 and general insurance of Rs 30,000. If a Jan Dhan account holder is involved in an accident, he is entitled to Rs 30,000.
If the account holder dies in an accident, he is entitled to Rs 2 lakh in compensation. A Jan Dhan account user can get up to Rs 2.30 lakh in this situation.
Aside from that, consumers are not required to maintain a minimum balance. Customers from the government can also get a Rs 10,000 overdraft on this account. How can I open an account?
More accounts are being opened in public sector banks under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. You can, however, create a Jan Dhan account with a private bank if you like. You can convert any other savings account into a Jan Dhan account as well. A Jan Dhan account can be opened by any Indian citizen who is 10 years old or older.
