Unified Payments Interface (UPI) allows users to make easy money transfer, pay utility bills such as electricity, mobile phones, broadband, etc. Now you can also buy and renew insurance policies, make donations to relief funds, recharge mobile phones, DTH connection and metro cards, book movie tickets, bus and train tickets, etc. UPI can also be used to pay bills in hotels, kirana shops and other physical stores.
UPI allows users to transfer money through multiple bank accounts at any moment, on a real-time basis, without revealing details of one's bank account to the other group. While UPI continues to gain prominence, it's crucial for consumers to be aware of everything that would save internet fraudsters from falling prey.

If the consumer loses his / her handset, NPCI advises that the account linked to any UPI App existing on the phone should be blocked instantly. "Unknown people will not be able to use the UPI-related apps as it needs UPI-PIN to approve all purchases. Furthermore, contact your bank's customer support, "said today National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Users should always remember that UPI PIN is never required to get money before entering the UPI PIN. The UPI PIN is only required when the money is sent to another UPI account. NPCI advises, "Be careful to keep an eye on any payment app before clicking Pay or accept click."
Users should always keep track of all of the bank's SMS / emails and other approved channels of communication about your purchases, comments, safety instructions and relevant announcements.

Always, when interacting with a purchase, always check carefully any post, popups or requests that you get on your payments app.
NPCI says that consumers should follow their bank's notifications. Know the difference between a password, PIN and an OTP and check the message closely to keep it safe. Always, keep a note of all the bank's communications and insure that you're informed of all the transfers to and from your account.
